Is there an age limit?

CLIMBING: We suggest that participants be at least 4 years old. The really little ones are welcome too, and almost always love they space, but they will not likely be able to climb much of what we have to offer.

SILKS: Unless otherwise specified, participants must be at least 8 years old. We do have a Jr Silks Class for those under 8 years old.

Everyone participating will need to have a facility waiver completed (climbing, silks, Spikeball, etc.). Those under 13 years old will need to be actively supervised by an adult while they are here. Anyone under 18 years will need to have a waiver filled out by a parent or guardian, but 13+ may participate on their own.

What do I wear?

CLIMBING: What you wear is important. You want to allow yourself the most range of motion possible. This will allow you to make the most of your experience here at the gym. A lot of climbers prefer pants or leggings to reduce the chance of scraping up your knees and legs while on the wall. This is something that you want to avoid, and wearing clothing that covers up your legs will help do so. That said, plenty of people like the freedom of shorts! Wear what’s comfortable. You do you :)

SILKS: We recommend leggings and a t-shirt that can be tucked in. Synthetic fabrics will be more slippery than cotton on the silks. Please no jeans or anything decorative on your clothing that may snag on the silks. Long pants are preferable to prevent fabric burn.

What shoes do I wear?

CLIMBING: Climbing shoes! This is a specialized type of footwear designed for rock climbing. They have a very close fit with a smooth, sticky rubber sole. This type of shoe allows for much smoother movement on the wall and will definitely make your experience a lot better. These shoes make climbing a lot more fun and they are very helpful when making moves on very little foot holds. If you don’t have your own, we’ll get you set up with some of ours!

SILKS: No shoes :).

What is the chalk for?

CLIMBING: Chalk is used by climbers to keep hands as dry as possible. This increases friction and improving their grip on the holds. Sweaty hands do not make for a fun climbing experience. We provide chalk bags for those that don’t have one.

SILKS: No chalk!

Is it safe?

CLIMBING: Rock climbing is a dangerous sport, we make it a top priority to give you the proper orientation to be able to keep you as safe as possible. Our staff is prepared to give you guidelines and tips to keep in mind while you are here enjoying our facility.

SILKS: There are many risks associated with practicing aerial arts, which is why students must first demonstrate proficiency in classes before being allowed to use the silks during our open hours. Our instructors are equipped with the knowledge of how to practice silks safely and are excited to pass that knowledge onto you.
